THOMPSON went nap as The Craven cruised into the first round of the Warburtons Towneley Cup.
He grabbed five in a 9-1 thrashing of Craven Heifer, with Day also hitting a hat-trick.
Dumon grabbed the only consolation goal for the visitors, as Whittaker completed the rout.
Ultra Finishing also progressed with their own five-goal hero, with Carruthers netting all the goals in a 5-1 win at Sun Inn.
However, the highest scorers on the day were Heather Lea United, who hammered Burnley West End 12-1 thanks in part to hat-tricks from Bleasdale and Butterworth.
Further goals from Preston, Gorton, J. Darwen, L. Darwen, Crorken and Tomlinson completed the rout.
Gibson and Taylor sent Craven United through with a 2-0 success at Jolly Sailor, as did Morrison and Graves in a similar success for George IV against Commercial.
Williams netted a consolation effort for Masons Arms as they lost 4-1 at Longside, while a brace from Bulmer and one each for Harrison and Smith gave Glory a 4-0 win at Club 100.
Smith's treble and one each for Bowden and Duffy gave Ashworth Arms a 5-3 victory over Pendle Rovers, while Whittaker netted in vain for Burnley Wood Casuals as they lost 3-1 at home to Rosegrove United.
And an 11-goal thriller at The Grove saw George and Dragon edged out their hosts 6-5, with Cain's hat-trick proving decisive.
Holywell (2), McNamara (2) and Atkinson's goals were in vain, as Dempsey, McNulty and O'Neill completed the win for the visitors.
The only league action of the day came in the Second Division, where George IV United edged out Rosegrove Unity by the odd goal in nine.
Chapman's double, plus strikes from Williams, Hutton and Hobson did the damage.
Meanwhile, Moore's hat-trick emphatically maintained Padiham Town's perfect start to the Burnley and District League season.
J. Taylor also netted twice as bottom side Real Hapton were demolished 10-0, with M. Taylor, Williamson, Entwistle, Kelly and Leach also on target.
Harrison and Fisher secured a 2-1 win for Ighten Leigh at BGSOB, while a Fallows double helped Michelin to a 4-2 success at Prairie United.
