Public urged to have say on Lancashire transport plans
Supporting economic development, making the county’s roads safer and improving public transport are all priorities identified in the plan.
However, in drawing up its priorities, the county council recognises that the coming years will mean tough choices as it deals with significant financial constraints in the public sector.

Hide AdCounty Coun. Tim Ashton, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “In the current climate, our clear transport priorities are to support economic growth, the creation of jobs and better access to employment.”
This consultation is a first step in the commissioning and delivery of transport projects across the county.
This includes:
• How Lancashire’s roads are maintained and improved.
• Improving bus and train services.
• Making transport safer.
• And tackling wide-ranging challenges – from economic growth to the effect of carbon emissions.
County Coun. Ashton said: “I’d like to urge people to take the time to have their say on proposals which will profoundly affect Lancashire’s transport system for years to come.

What’s really important is that people take the time to look at our proposals and let us know if they think we are on the right track.”
The consultation on the draft Local Transport Plan will run until next Friday.
Details will be available on the www.lancashire.gov.uk and at all major libraries, and at various bus and railway stations across the county.
