Hands dirty as businesses clean up river
Organised by Nelson telecoms company Daisy Group, staff from the firm were joined by employees from TalkTalk, Lex, Crow Wood, Skoda, BMW, Businesswise Solutions and Ribble Rivers Trust volunteers to clean up the area surrounding the river at Crow Wood in Burnley which has been neglected since the Christmas floods.
The 30 strong team went with the flow during an entire day’s work as rubble was removed, debris was dealt with and notable items including a motorbike, driving licence, tyres and shopping trollies were recovered. They were also tasked to remove an invasive weed, known as Himalayan Balsam, which is renowned for causing problems in the area.

“We acquired quite a few scratches and stings, and there wasn’t a dry sock in sight – but it was truly a fantastic day and I am really proud of the effort that the team put in.”
