Plea to Prime Minister to save Ribble Valley
I enclose copy from the Clitheroe Advertiser (page three story in July 25th’s edition of the Clitheroe Advertiser about the go-ahead for 260 houses and a primary school at the Lawsonsteads site, Whalley, that includes comments from Nick Walker, of Save Whalley Village Action Group), to give you some idea of the crisis which is developing in the Ribble Valley.
This is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with numerous historic buildings and natural sites, now being threatened by a series of massive developments around the village and town centres of Clitheroe, Whalley and Waddington.

My wife and I are too old to be seriously affected by what we see happening, so for us this is not a question of “Nimbyism” – but for the sake of future generations we regret that a beautiful area of mixed large scale farming with considerable well situated industry is being vandalised and will become one more post-rural suburb.
I beg you to look into what is being done in this region of Lancashire, and I would be grateful to know that my letter has reached you.
The Rev. Ian Robins,
Manorfields, Whalley.
